Frankenmuth Jaycees Spray Park
The Frankenmuth Jaycees will celebrate the grand opening of a handicap-accessible and family-friendly splash pad as its gift to the community of Frankenmuth in summer 2019. Located on Park Drive in Memorial Park near the Palmer Schau Platz, the Spray Park will include poured rubber surfacing made from recycled materials to improve mobility and a safer fall surface.
The fundraising effort, led by the Jaycees, totals more than $900,000 and is resulting in a colorful handicap-accessible splash pad featuring 20 spray features along with safe and family-friendly surroundings that include: a party pavilion, family-style restrooms, updated playground equipment, landscape for shade, traffic barriers, and a sensory and learning garden to welcome visitors to the space.
The Jaycees have worked in close partnership with the City of Frankenmuth's Parks and Recreation Department and the Police Department to ensure that plans and expectations for this project bring the maximum benefit to the city and area residents.
Building is expected to be complete ahead of the end of the school year in June 2019. Annually, the park will operate from Memorial Day to Labor Day and be open daily during daylight hours. The Frankenmuth Jaycees have pledged to provide a majority share of the project funding for the splash pad. To date, with pledges from civic organizations, fundraisers such as Dancing with the Stars, and land donations, the total funding needed has been raised.
