May: Conference, competitions and a groundbreaking

The Frankenmuth Jaycees REPRESENTED at last weekend's conference and deserve recognition for some great achievements. The Trimester One conference took place at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, and 17 members of our chapter were in attendance.

Here's some of the highlights from the weekend: Chairperson Dan Jacobson and Cochairperson Kieshan Counts presented their Single Project Entry for the Winterläufe 8K Road Race, which earned recognition as the Top Financial Development & Economic Growth Project for T1! The membership team's Cherry Republic social took home a Programming Award of Excellence, and the chapter plans to work once again with the local business to make it happen again later this year. For competitions, Jessica Haynes was chosen as the inaugural You're Hired winner for T1 and Jacqulyn Leary took home awards for Impromptu Write-Up and Prepared Speak-Up.

The celebration continued Monday with the groundbreaking of the Frankenmuth Jaycees Spray Park, a project in the making for more than a year that has garnered hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations and grants from our fundraisers along with outside foundations, service groups and private donors.

Coming up next for the Frankenmuth Jaycees is the largest fundraising project of the year: World Expo of Beer! The two-day outdoor festival is one of Michigan's largest beer sampling events and brings together hundreds of volunteers and thousands of beer lovers for a great time, with all proceeds going to charity. Stay tuned to hear more on what the Jaycees are doing next, and remember service to humanity is the best work of life!
