On February 25, 1961, Bill Rummel was elected as the first president of the Frankenmuth Jaycees. Right from the start, the Frankenmuth Jaycees chapter had a flair for starting traditions like wearing lederhosen and dirndls to state functions that continue today.

 

Some of the first projects organized by the Jaycees include The Herbert L. Keinath Distinguished Service Award Banquet and the Volksläufe road race held every Fourth of July. The Jaycees also lent their efforts to causes such as the installation of the three-phase siren system in Frankenmuth and building Jaycee Pavilion in Heritage Park.

 

Over time, the chapter has grown its organization and schedule of projects with all proceeds going to charitable causes such as the Frankenmuth police and fire departments; Muscular Dystrophy Association; Frankenmuth Historical Museum; Relay for Life; local school groups and other nonprofits members are involved in.
